The finale of 24, best show on TV ever!
The finale of 24 was simply perfect, moving and amazing, but very sad. I would bet the tears of Chloe at the end were in fact real. This show was simply amazing. The point where President Taylor and Dahlia Assan confronted each other and Taylor, the peace maker, threatened Assan with nuclear war if she did not sign "the peace agreement" was simply pure drama on the same level as Shakespeare himself. The genius of 24 is that characters are rarely pure good or evil but a mix of emotions, contradictions, morals, values, fears and sins. When Jack was set to kill the Russian President he was surely making a big mistake as his friend Chloe convinced him. But Jack found pleasure in his job just moments before pulling the trigger, when he opened his gun barrel eye to smile at the camera. And finally the end, the drone taking in his face looking upward at the sky, after looking upward to his death at the Brooklyn Bridge, but this time looking straight at Chloe through the drone, this was a moment of pure genius and was truly heartbreaking to see the end of the greatest show ever shown on TV. Please make the first movie of 24 as soon as you can, this franchise simply cannot go away. As Pres. Taylor was shaking as she first did wrong, then shaking when she did right, we were all shaking as we watched the final count---DOWN 03 02 01 00.

Downtube Nova, Best Bike Ever Owned
Here is my bike, a foldable Downtube Nova with 20 inch wheels. It weighs only 24 pounds and can be put into a airline suitable piece of luggage without paying any additional fees. Normally airlines charge $100 for a bike box but since this fits into a airline suitable case, it would be free.
The bike handles very well. It has a load capacity of 220 lbs but honestly it can take more. I weigh about 180 and have had a good 40 lbs on it and it does fine. Though I have only done that once and the bike is only about 3 months old. I have about 350 miles on it so far.
It is the best bike I have ever owned. It only costs about $300 and gives you 7 speeds. Though I upgraded it: new Brooks seat, bigger tires and rear rack, as well as upgrading the gearing, to give it stronger crusing gears. In all, it is worth about $500 for all that. A great deal considering what you get vs. a Dahon.

Dolphin Motel, San Diego
Just playing around with the Panasonic GH1 and the Lumix f1.7 20mm lens on a rare rainy San Diego night. This little hotel is one of the best low cost hotels in San Diego. These photos only lightly touched, some are straight out of camera.

Pecados de mi Padre - Sins of My Father (Official Trailer)
This will be the largest documentary ever distributed in Latin America. I met the director this past weekend at the NALIP Film Conference in LA. Very cool guy. He had full access to family photos, footage, etc. This doc will be different then all the ones before about Pablo Escobar.

2006 Subaru Baja Turbo Manual For Sale
Update (3/13/2010): The Baja was sold to a happy father and daughter from Utah.
This 2006 All Wheel Drive Subaru Baja Turbo Manual Sport is in excellent condition. Asking $12,900. Will consider offers. 23 mpg. I am the original owner. Car bought and kept in Southern California (no rust). Paint and interior excellent. Serviced exactly according to Subaru California recommendations (more stringent then national) at every interval with stamps in service book. Full dealer inspection three months ago. The engine runs great, the transmission is excellent. New clutch and new timing belt. Brakes about a year old. All fluids on transmission, center and rear differential recently changed and serviced. Tires, Yokohama Geolanders, have a little less then half tread left. Both keyless entry transmitters and two original keys. Stock anti-theft system which will shut the car off if it is tampered with. New OEM windshield (replaced due to rock crack). More description below...
My email
No accidents (other then small rear bumper fix). Very small scoff mark on left underside of running board, and of course very small door dings typical on any vehicle. In the pictures the white mark on the left rear bumper is a reflection from a towel, not a scoff mark.
Extras: --front custom made bull guard (excellent fit) and 2000 lb Mile Marker winch (never used but works great). Both can be taken off easily. --Baja OEM sport lamps (Hella made) on the roof rack. --Subaru OEM trailer hitch. --SSI skid plate protecting the engine. --Subaru rear differential protector (protects from rocks, dirt, etc.) --OEM bug shield to protect paint on hood. --OEM alarm add on but never had it installed; it's still new in the box. I installed the skid protectors because even small rocks can damage the rear differential (which is very expensive to replace) and I have heard of instances where the plastic stock skid plate falls off. These upgrades make a safer vehicle and cost well over $1000.
Many of these Bajas sell at a premium since they are so rare. These are perfect for those that want the utility of a truck, with the handling and mpg of a car, and to boot turbo power and all wheel drive handling. When I first purchased this car I was amazed at how well it handled in emergency cornering, in rain, etc. I had driven Honda's before that. When you are driving down the highway and need to swerve out of the way of something or go through pockets of rain, the Honda would sway and have trouble getting back to normal and would often hydroplane in rain, but the Subaru Baja would tightly go around the object and straight right back out, and never hydroplane. No wonder insurance companies like these all wheel cars. I have taken this car to Yosemite in winter and it handled the snow perfectly.
The turbo is very strong and very smooth. No oil leaks anywhere and never have been. It has 98,000 miles but this is 80% highway. The turbo, paired with a manual transmission, makes this car amazing. I have test driven the automatic turbos and non turbos. They are very sluggish compared to this vehicle. I have never raced, nor boosted it, nor even tested the top speed; I have babied it, but you know the power is there constantly. You will feel the power especially on the highway, you can go from 70 to 80 in just a couple seconds. It's simply a great feeling to have all that power when you need it. FYI, I have heard this is the same engine as in the very powerful WRX but tuned down.
It goes without saying, everything works on this vehicle without any problems. You are getting a car that has been serviced perfectly and should get many years of enjoyment out of it.
The car report shows duplicate title. This is because I had lost the original so had to get a new one.
I will happily assist in shipping the vehicle to you and may be willing to drive up to 500 miles to deliver depending on circumstances. You can buy the vehicle through ebay if you prefer or directly. More pics at http://davidwhalen.blogspot.com
